At the end of 2012, I received an invitation from MAKINO MUSIC to attend the first gathering of the “Meet the Principal” program. I used to think that teaching child to play piano is merely a way to help him/her to raise a hobby. But by attending the “Meet the Principal”, I have more profound knowledge about learning music and music education. This program is definitely a huge New Year gift MAKINO MUSIC sent to parents.
The focus of education is human. Education is to lead out the nature of humanity, so does music education. The general goal of music education is to encourage children to be a music lover who knows how to taste a piece of music. The lecture from the principal Mr. Tian is compelling. He stated that music education does not aim at shaping children to be musicians, but most importantly, at passing down the value of humanity. MAKINO MUSIC believes in and practices this philosophy from the very beginning. This humanity-centered education mode brings MAKINO students a joyful and effective way to learn music. Children are fond of music and enlightened by the whole learning process. They gain wisdom and creativity.
I realized that children are eager to receive compliments from parents. They need parent to be a model that they can follow when they are learning new things and growing up. As parents, what we usually do, however, are being picky and over strict with children’s imperfection. “An excellent child is usually backed up by a harmonic family and a joyful living environment,” Mr. Tian stated in “Meet the Principal,” “Our children will encounter different problems while they are growing up. What parents should do is to support children with a positive attitude, to guide them to solve problems. Parents should take responsibility to create a easy family environment.” Music learning is also a process of humanity education. Parents should provide a good learning atmosphere in which accompany children to achieve new goals.
Mr. Tian introduced the future development of MAKINO MUSIC. This is a unique music education company that sets a scientific rule of management, provides high quality services and has a promising future. The group of young musicians takes music education as their life-long career. They innovate in teaching methods and edit fine textbooks that successfully attract children’s attention and stimulate children’s interests to learn. My child has attended music classes at MAKINO MUSIC School for more than one year. He not only acquires good piano play skills, but also learns how to behave well and how to get along with others. I really appreciate the endeavor MAKINO MUSIC has made.
Participators in this gathering obtained the book – Parents are the Best Music Teachers for Children from Mr. Tian as a gift. Mrs. Youhui Zheng, a Taiwan expert studying childhood music education, writes this book. The readings make me get more useful knowledge of instructing children’s music learning and cultivate them to be an eligible citizen of our society.
I sincerely expect “Meet the Principal” program to organize more meaningful events. MAKINO MUSIC offers a comprehensive way to teach music, which is a combination of art and culture. My child and me are enjoying every minute spend with MAKINO MUSIC.
