The International Pianist & Teacher Penelope Roskell from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance wrote a preface for Music Tree in 11th, September 2017.

Penelope Roskell combines an international performing career with posts as Professor of Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and as visiting artist at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Here are the contents:

The Music Tree is a delightful set of books for young children. Each page has a charming picture which links to a song with a strong humanistic, moral theme. Parents and children can look at the pictures together whilst listening to and joining in the songs.

Many parents are keen for their children to participate in music education from a very early age, at a time when most of them are not yet study the complexities of reading music and playing an instrument. With these books, young children can develop their natural musicianship and stimulate their imaginations by the simple acts of singing, dancing and storytelling. The aim of the Music Tree is to instil a strong love of music before the child is ready to engage in any more formal music education.

There is strong evidence that listening to and singing music at an early age is the best way to develop a life-long love of music. This is best done in the home: the language of music is learnt from the parent, in the same way that spoken language is acquired naturally from everyday human interaction. Sharing music, songs and stories together becomes an important part of everyday family life which is an excellent way to start to develop a life-long love of music and lead to a lifetime of ever-deepening appreciation of music.

To conclude, the Music Tree is a valuable resource for parents and teachers who wish to introduce their children to the joys of music-making in a simple, fun way.
